Waited patiently 2 days for news from the garage, so I called and the receptionist tells me “the parts are ordered and it’ll be ready tomorrow.”
Ummm, which parts? And for how much? So now I’m waiting for the service advisor to call back and give me some explanations.
Also, I told them I needed the truck tomorrow morning, but I get the feeling I’ll be taking the bus...
Update: it’s an independent shop that’s well recommended. I talked to them and they haven’t replaced anything yet - the parts that were ordered (front brake calipers) were “just in case” because apparently they’re hard to find. Tomorrow the truck goes up and they’ll confirm what needs fixing and then call before doing any work.

Bad business practice, right there.

Stealership or bad independent place?

Waaaaaay uncool of that shop no matter the kind.

Local shop, see update.

At least it’s well recommended. Sometimes that happens. I’m surprised they didn’t call sooner though.

So it’s not as bad as I feared; see my update.

Ah, good to know. I order parts similarly on a regular basis, they’re easy to return with no penalty from some vendors because we spend piles of money with them. Much more expedient to have suspected parts on hand. Sounds like they just had a little miscommunication.

Older 4Runner right? The multi-piston front calipers on those seize ALL the time. Almost every one that came through the shop when I was at Toyota had frozen calipers.

Yep! Big problem on the 4th gen (03-09). I wanted to upgrade to the 2010+ calipers but there are none in town, apparently. I’ll just be glad to have working brakes, at least.
